Newegg 2022 Style Guide

When I joined Newegg in 2021, I was given a single page paper written in Chinese and English with hexcode values for brand colors dated 2017.

I would then spend the next year and half sorting through incomplete documentation on brand standards before taking a step to modernize the brand to be unique and recognizable.

The first step was changing the brand typeface from Helvetica which was already being used by Target as a brand font. I changed the font to Montserrat to be more modern with geometric forms and a selection of font weights able to convey different meanings and tone. I wrapped the the rest of the styling within a design philosophy of “Simple & Clean” which served minimalist style and didn’t take too many chances with changing too much more to avoid resistance from an older upper management team. The resulting style guide is something I’m happy & proud with but there is still plenty of opportunity to grow and improve.
